Tips and tricks for the perfect print

To ensure your keepsake turns out exactly as you envision it, we'd like to give you a few tips.

How to use silicone correctly!

As a general rule regarding the amount of silicone: less is more! The required amount is often overestimated – but the amount specified in our instructions is perfectly sufficient.

If too much silicone is used, the impression can become too deep , making the production of the piece of jewelry more difficult.
Therefore, stick to the recommended amount and, if necessary, flatten the mixed silicone slightly before taking the impression. This will give you the best result.

Fingerprints 👆

Fingerprints are unique to each person. No two prints are alike. You'll usually get the best results using your thumb or index finger.

In young children or elderly people , the finger ridges may not yet be fully developed or may no longer be very pronounced. In this case, a print of the palm of the hand , or even the palm of the foot in the case of babies, is also suitable.

Nose & paw print 🐾

Your pet's nose print is very special and just as unique as a fingerprint! 🐶🐱

Before taking the impression, gently pat your pet's nose dry .

Whether it's a tiny cat/Chihuahua nose or a large retriever snout, we can work with any size.

Depending on where you take the impression, the result will change slightly:

  • If you take the impression from the top of the nose, you will primarily get the fine structure of the nasal planum.
  • If you would also like to include the nostrils in the impression, then place the impression a little further forward on the nose.

As an alternative to a nose print, a paw print can also be used. This is especially nice if you want to immortalize two animals on a double-sided piece of jewelry. For example, you can take the nose print of one animal and the paw print of the other, and later you'll know exactly which print belongs to which animal.

For long-haired pets , it is recommended to trim the fur on the paws slightly to prevent silicone from getting caught in it.

The best surface for the print is the large main pad in the middle of the paw.

Horsehair , especially in the facial area, is also ideal for taking an impression – the short, close-lying fur allows the silicone to adhere perfectly without getting caught.
